Quick Facts about The Climate Crisis

  • Temperatures are higher now than in the last 10,000 years!

  • Locally, some of our biggest risks are flooding and heat stress. Lyme disease is also on the rise in certain areas of Ontario.

  • According to the International Panel on Climate Change, we have only about 6 years to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by about 50% to keep average global temperatures to less than 1.5 C

  • The longer we wait to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the more it will cost to mitigate and adapt to climate change

  • Soon parts of the world will be uninhabitable due to intense heat, sea level rise, and water scarcity leading to mass migrations, global unrest, and economic insecurity

  • Those most vulnerable to climate change are the least responsible for the emissions.

  • We have lots of solutions but need to accelerate their implementation. Let’s get started!

Climate Impact Fund acknowledges that the land on which we operate is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land, and continue to do so today.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
